What’s Greek This Week — Finals Week!

June 10, 2012 by Archived posts

By Ashlynne Macan |Staff Writer|

It’s the end of the quarter and we made it through yet another school year. Congratulations to all the graduates, we wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors and hope that you continue to contribute to you organization even after you have become alumni.

This quarter has been great and so many things have happened and I’m glad you all let me be a part of it. I’ve seen so many different philanthropic events and even got to donate my own time to each of them. St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, the Make a Wish Foundation, the March of Dimes, Red Cross, Prevent Child-Abuse America, The Children’s Miracle Network, Huntsman Cancer Institute, Woman and Child Abuse Awareness and Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Awareness all appreciate the time and effort that everyone has put in and for the donations given. It is an honor to know that all the Greek organizations can come together and support one another in order to achieve a greater feeling of success. When we work together, we succeed together.

At this time, I would like to take the time in support of Delta Sigma Chi Co-ed Fraternity Inc. for a moment. Last year on June 13, 2011 they lost one of their beloved sisters Lizbeth Pina. Liz was finishing her second year at CSUSB as a nursing major in which she hoped to become one day she said, “All my life I have been surrounded by doctors and nurses, I have seen what they did for me, and I want to be that nurse that helped someone just like I was helped.”

“She struggled with Leukemia as a young child and was able to overcome it and battle it,” stated the article in the SMSU across from the Bank of America ATM, where there is a tribute to her in honor of her memory. If you knew her, she was all smiles, loved to laugh, enjoy life and help people. Her favorite quote was “Love your haters.”  She also loved 2Pac and Wisin and Yandel and you could always hear them when her ring tone went off in the Student Union.

If you could please just stop by and see her tribute in the SMSU, the brothers and sisters of Delta Sigma Chi would greatly appreciate it.

I am happy that I was able to be a part of everyone’s efforts to achieve self or your organizations goals. I hope everyone has a great and safe summer. There are a couple of events coming up at the end of finals week:
