A man was shot and killed by San Bernardino police on the I-215 freeway near University Parkway on Feb. 13.

The man was suspected of stealing a vehicle and subsequently leading police on a high-speed chase on streets and freeways.

“He ran into multiple police cars and at one point went the wrong way and struck a police car head on,” said San Bernardino Police Lt. Richard Lawhead.

According to Lawhead, the suspect was shot by police officers when he tried to ram police vehicles.

As a result of the shooting, the freeway at University Parkway was closed for investigation.
