By Alejandro Cardenas |Staff Writer| Across the United States, protesters have been supporting open carry laws that protect people who walk around with unconcealed weapons. I am against the policies that the protesters are advocating because guns can lead to the deaths of innocent people. Currently, there are six states including California that completely ban people from visibly carrying weapons in public. Alternatively, there are twelve states that allow people to openly carry their weapons without a permit or license. By Devin Ramos |Staff Writer| The proposed boxing match between George Zimmerman and rapper DMX was a poor choice by the event's promoters as it glorified Zimmerman for his infamous trial in 2013. The fight would boost the already infamous Zimmerman into the celebrity spotlight by glorifying his acquittal for the death of Trayvon Martin. There was anger and pleas that sought justice for Martin after Zimmerman's acquittal, which added fuel to the media frenzy. Skittles are suspicious?
By Shanieka Perrier |Staff Writer| What is so suspicious about iced tea and a bag of skittles? A 17-year-old boy holding only those items and wearing a “hoodie” was shot and killed ion Feb. 26 in Sanford, Florida. Trayvon Martin was shot by George Zimmerman after he saw the boy walking around in his neighborhood and found him “suspicious.” I believe that Zimmerman brought this situation upon himself. According to the LA Times, he was instructed to go home and let the police handle the situation. In my opinion he acted purely on suspicion and ignored the police, as though he was above the law.
