According to WHO, “In order to declare an Ebola outbreak over, a country must pass 42 days with active surveillance in place, and with no new cases detected.” “This is a spectacular success story that shows Ebola can be contained,” said WHO. Some citizens of Nigeria were infected with the virus in July by a sick air traveler. The country of Nigeria reacted by isolating and treating those who had been infected or had come in contact with someone who had contracted the virus and then physically monitored them for 21 days. Proposition 47: Felonies to misdemeanors
By Yara Del Rio-Dominguez |Staff Writer| California residents have the option of voting on Proposition 47 to scale back several felonies to lower level misdemeanors in order to reduce the penalties for committed crimes. Proposition 47 will modify the classification of non-serious and nonviolent, property, and drug crimes. Only those who have been convicted of a non-serious, nonviolent crime will qualify for the changes implemented by Proposition 47, according to ballotpedia.org. “I think this is an issue and people should not go to jail for committing little crimes,” said student Ashley Sandoval. Disney bans line skipping for disabled and blames policy abuse
By Yara Del Rio-Dominguez |Staff Writer| Disneyland and Disney World Resort will no longer provide visitors with disabilities a Guest Assistance Card, starting Nov. 1, 2013. Disney’s current policy offers their visitors with a disability, a Guest Assistance Card allowing guests to go to the front of the line on any ride or attraction, reducing wait time depending on their disability at no extra cost. Last summer at Radiator Springs, a popular ride inside Disneyland California Adventure, guests had no problem maneuvering through the lines.
