Nationally-ranked teams struggle from effects of COVID-19

As the stay-in-home order continues, athletes continue to circle around the questions that are on every athlete's and coach's minds: if all sports events are still banned for 2020-2021, will every sport be granted another year of eligibility? The athletic program on campus has taken off for Fall sports such as women’s volleyball and men’s soccer. Both teams had their best season’s in school history with women’s volleyball finishing at number one in the nation and men’s soccer finishing at fifth. Q&A with the National Volleyball Assistant Head Coach of the Year, Danny Scott

There is no doubt that the CSUSB women’s volleyball team has put the school on the map at a national level for years to come. The women’s team holds 14 CCAA championships, 8 West Regional championships, and just finished their best season in school history, going 33-0 and winning the national championship.  How does a team follow such a perfect record when their entire Spring season, and possibly preseason, is cancelled due to COVID-19? Sights and sounds from CSUSB women’s volleyball Senior Night

The CSUSB Women's Volleyball team made history Saturday night finishing the regular season 24-0. The Coyotes won 3-0 against Stanislaus state and marked the 18th sweep of the year.   "Going undefeated in our regular-season was a goal of ours but not something we talked about every day," Sascha Dominique said.  "We took it game by game and still have a lot of goals left to accomplish." CSUSB women’s volleyball continues to dominate

Fans that went to Homecoming bash 2019 were treated to a free game and see the  #1 ranked Women’s Volleyball team in Division II, and they were not disappointed. The Coyotes won their annual homecoming game 3-0 in a contest against Cal Poly Pomona, a school that never challenged the Coyotes before. Homecoming allows alumni to stay in touch with the university and watch the dominant Coyotes. Having the longest streak at #1 in the country this past season was just another check in the box for the women's Volleyball team that fell short of advancing to Nationals. The team has made 18 straight appearances in the NCAA Regional Tournament. Volleyball tournament played at Coussoulis Arena

The No. 1 USA Women's National Team takes on the No. 3 China team on June 12, 2015 at CSUSB. "USA overpowered China 3-1 to collect its first-ever title at a triple crown event," stated the CSUSB athletics homepage. Both teams are preparing for the 2016 Summer Olympics. The Volleyball Cup is a showcase for the national teams, playing some of the best teams in the world. Coyotes take Idaho

A&E Editor| Women’s volleyball ended their regular season on a high note after two consecutive wins against Cal State Los Angeles Golden Eagles and Cal State Dominguez Hills Bulls. On Nov. 13 Coyotes faced the Golden Eagles in what would turn out to be an intense match for their 3-1 win. The home game had Coyotes working extra hard after trailing behind the first set with a set score of 23-25. Volleyball finishes off rough season

Coyotes, unfortunately, ended their five match winning streak after pulverizing CSU opponents, San Fransisco Gators, Stanislaus Warriors, Chico Wildcats, Humboldt Lumberjacks, and the UC San Diego Tritons. Women’s volleyball winning streak continues

By Inno Sita |Staff Writer| CSUSB Volleyball team ended their winning streak against Sonoma State Seawolves with a 3-1 victory on Oct. 26 at the Coussoulis Arena. The No.12 Coyotes hold an overall record of 16-5, they faced the 14th ranked Seawolves for the second time this season. Starting with the first set, the Coyotes had an outstanding offense, leaving no chance for the Seawolves to outscore. Volleyball gets wake up call after weekend loss

By Devan Lee |Staff Writer| The CSUSB’s women’s volleyball team suffered a loss to the UC San Diego Tritons in La Jolla, California on Nov. 7. “We were playing unmotivated and looked half asleep out there,” said Assistant Head Coach Danny Scott. The team’s loss marks the end of a seven game winning streak they held prior to the match. The Lady Yotes started off the match by winning the first two sets over the Tritons. However, momentum appeared to take a wrong turn for the Coyotes as their rivals came back to win the next three sets consecutively.
