The Humane Society of San Bernardino Valley (HSSBV) continues to provide services for animals and animal lovers alike as it celebrates 50 years as a local non-profit organization. Joyce Martin founded HSSBV on March 16, 1970. According to Jill A. Henderson, Director of Development & Outreach of HSSBV, it started with a group of friends in Martin's garage, which later expanded to its own building. CSUSB gives back during Coyote Cares Day

More than 280 participants from CSUSB fanned out to 15 local organizations that service the disadvantaged in San Bernardino. “This was a great chance for coyotes to give back to the city of San Bernardino,” said Christa Bowers, member of Community University Partnerships. A few organizations that you could volunteer for are the Habitat for Humanity, the Youth Action Project and the Humane Society of San Bernardino Valley (HSSBV).
