March 1, 2016 by Archived posts Leave a Comment

By Jackie Monarrez |Staff Writer| The Coyote baseball team took to the road, playing against the Cal Poly Pomona Broncos Feb. 12, then playing a double header Feb. 13 against the UC San Diego Tritons. They ended their weekend against Texas-Permian Basin Feb. 14. Coyotes split the weekend series, winning two games and losing two. The non-conference game against the Broncos was an excellent match up having both teams' best pitchers starting the game. Junior Tyler Wells pitched five innings for the Coyotes striking out 10 Bronco players, but the Coyotes took an 8-2 loss. When asked what Wells would have done differently in this game to possibly take the victory over the … [Read more...] about Baseball wins two on the road

March 7, 2015 by Archived posts Leave a Comment

By Nathaniel Lastrapes |Staff Writer| It was a rough weekend for Coyote baseball. It has been a long season thus far for the Coyotes who are 3-14, but right-handed pitcher Dylan Mitchell is confident the team can turn the season around "Playoffs are definitely still in reach. By Richard Burrud | Staff Writer Coyote Women’s Soccer team took their fifth win in Sundays game against California State University of Los Angeles. The Golden Eagles and Coyotes were tied at the half, until freshman Paige Kang was able to capitalize on a rebound in overtime and was the difference maker in a close game against the Golden Eagles. In the second half the Coyotes were able to get more shots on goal, although Clarke said, “CSULA was playing tough defense.” Although, the Eagles had 10 shots on goal the Coyotes … [Read more...] about Women’s Soccer kicking into a great season start

By Ryan Libby |Staff Writer| The Coyote’s caught fire from 3-point range propelling them to their first win of the season, with their backs against the wall and down 12 points late in the first half, beating UC San Diego 90-82. The game tested the Coyotes’ ability to remain calm and stick to their game plan Nov. 24 at Coussoulis Arena, leading them to their first CCAA victory. The Coyotes [1-1] struggled early with turnovers and the deficit could have been worse going into halftime. However, back-to-back three pointers by guards Brian Goins and Jamari Simmons allowed the Coyotes to earn some momentum as they would go into the break down 34-31. “I was proud of them,” said head … [Read more...] about Men’s basketball 3-pointers ensure win

Women’s volleyball defeats rival CSULA

October 30, 2012 by Archived posts

By Devan Lee |Staff Writer| CSUSB women’s volleyball comes out on top of their conference after they shut out rival school Cal State Los Angeles, Saturday Oct. 20. The victory marked the team’s third win in a row after they faced a bitter defeat against Cal State East Bay a week earlier that ended their eight game winning streak. After such a disappointing loss, head coach Kim Cherniss and her staff devised multiple strategies to bounce back and inevitably gain a winning edge in their upcoming games. Cherniss believes having to work around the team’s youth and inexperience has become one of the main obstacles the Coyotes have faced this season. “We really try to play well in … [Read more...] about Women’s volleyball defeats rival CSULA
