The Coyotes could not hold on losing 4-3 to the Gators in their first game of their double-header. Freshman pitcher Jake Meloche went the distance in his longest outing as a Coyote. Meloche pitched the entire game, yielding 7 hits, 2 walks, and 4 earned runs in his eight innings of work. “SFSU was a very aggressive hitting team; they swung at the first pitch a lot which kept my pitch count down,”said Meloche. By Ryan Navaroli |Staff Writer| Coyotes men baseball team excited the crowd as they won 9-5 in their final game against the Cal State East Bay Pioneers. The Coyotes split the series 2-2. Senior first baseman Richard Mount exceeded all expectations Sunday afternoon with just one swing of the bat. Mount’s pinch hit grand slam in the 8th inning capped a six-run rally for the Coyotes’ thrilling come up from behind victory. “I was really just looking for something I could put a barrel on. By Ryan Navaroli |Staff Writer| Coyote’s men’s baseball team suffered a tough loss against the Cal Baptist University (CBU) Lancers, losing 3-1 in their home opener. Freshman pitcher Jake Meloche got the start for the Coyotes home opener. Meloche pitched solid giving the Coyotes a chance to win in his first start of the 2014 season. Meloche yielded seven hits, two walks, and two earned runs in his four innings of play. “Getting the home opener was a great honor to get, especially as a freshman.
