It allows their muscles to be in the best possible condition for when the season comes around. Most college sports seasons are intense because of the large amount of games played over such a short period of time. Athletes have to do their workouts around their scheduled classes. Before the quarter starts, coaches send out times where they are not allowed to schedule any of their classes. "But really I learned that everyone is a piece for the of the puzzle, in order to get to the final goal it requires everyone's dedication and efforts," continued Cortez. There are a total of 12 seniors on the CSUSB women's track and field team, all of which have helped mold each other into more than just a normal team. “I will miss being on a team and getting to be a part of something bigger than me,” said Cara Bonafede. Track meet goes well for Coyotes
By Kiara Paul |Asst. Sports Editor| Coyote Women's Track and Field headed out to Claremont to compete in the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Rossi Relays on Feb. 27. The Coyotes competed in multiple activities throughout the course of the day, placing high in many categories. Each activity is broken down into sections that are categorized by top athletes to lowest ranking athletes. Each Coyote has two places; one where they placed in the section they participated in and the second where they placed overall out of all the other athletes in the activity. Coyote sports season comes to an end
By Lauren Jennings |Staff Writer| The 2014-2015 year of sports has come to a close for CSUSB as the seasons for all of the teams have ended. The end of the season often results in the end of many collegiate careers for the student-athletes. The baseball team leads the others with a total of 13 departing seniors, five more than the next. The men's basketball team follows with eight. The softball team has four seniors, while the golf and track team have three apiece. The women's basketball team has just one senior. By Shelby Hancock |Staff Writer| The ladies are up and running. CSUSB's women's track and field team competed for the first time in school history on Feb. 28, 2015. On March 21, 2014 Athletic Director Kevin Hatcher announced the conclusion of the women's water polo and the organization of track and field. The Coyote water polo program began in 1999 and was ended last year due to lack of participation from schools in the conference. By Nathaniel Lastrapes |Staff Writer| Women's track and field is coming to CSUSB and the team is excited to begin it's inaugural season on Saturday, Feb. 28 at the Rossi Relays in Claremont. The track and field program is still in it's early stages and head coach Tom Burlesom is in the progress of building a team, as this is going to be their first season competing in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). The track and field program has replaced CSUSB's women's Water Polo program, for budget purposes, which has been in CSUSB's intercollegiate program since 1999. By Luis Petty |Staff Writer| Director of Athletics Dr. Kevin Hatcher announced the cancellation of women’s water polo and the addition of women’s track and field for the 2014-2015 year that took effect March 21. Associate Director of Media Relations Mark Reinhiller, clarified some uncertainties about the statement released by Hatcher on the recent cancellation. Reinhiller referred to Hatcher’s announcement and explained women’s water polo was the only sport not included in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) and that they belonged to the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA), a league not associated with the CCAA.
