By Lupe Perez |Staff Writer| Tattoos—a form of body art that people have as a form of self-expression. The meaning behind a tattoo can range from something near and dear, or something as simple as an impulse. Many people feel their tattoos represent their background and life as a whole. Its almost as if their identity is naked without having the ink on their public image. Ink is permanent, but it is no longer as big of a taboo in society as it once was. Tattoos were once a form of rebellion and were seen as unprofessional and needed to remain hidden. Now, they are a form of body art and self-expression, the portrayal of a person as a whole. Tattoos: Trend or End to job search
By Abel Arriola | Staff Writer | Even before tattoos became a large trend, they have always been seen as a work of art. Being the social norm, people tend to get tattoos to express themselves, or to cover up old, regretful ink. While some are beautiful, issues arise when stereotypes are formed on what these pieces mean to those who have them. I’ve always had several anecdotes as to why actors … [Read more...] about Actors should not be punished for having tattoos
Students use ink to show off creativity
By Marc-Olivier Drouin |staff writer| Once frowned upon, tattoos and piercing are now becoming very popular. So popular that it is really easy to spot someone on campus who carries a unique piece of art on their skin. Students at CSUSB definitely love ink! Years ago, tattoos and piercings held a negative meaning because of their association with biker gangs and criminals. Even if tattoos and piercings are not yet fully accepted in the workplace, TV shows like “Miami Ink” and “L.A. Ink” have helped to democratize the … [Read more...] about Students use ink to show off creativity
