Spotify vs. Tidal vs. Apple

April 25, 2016 by Archived posts 453 Comments

By Jordan Jerry | Staff Writer | CSUSB is filled with music oriented students, legally & illegally. Of course, we obviously support the legal position of streaming music. Apple Music, Spotify and the improved Tidal are the top streaming services known to most music goers. There are many features of these apps to look at starting with pricing, offline modes and easy use to name a few. Spotify, Apple Music and Tidal all offer a monthly fee of $9.99, which provides all music that the streaming service provides, offline mode, no ads, and good quality music. The similarities between Spotify and Tidal is their student discount membership for $4.99 a month as oppose to Apple … [Read more...] about Spotify vs. Tidal vs. Apple

March 7, 2015 by Archived posts 407 Comments

By Bree Reyes |Staff Writer| Bjork has decided to keep her new album "Vulnicura" off of Spotify, because it "does not feel right." The Icelandic singer-songwriter spoke to Fast Company, a business media brand, about her ordeal with her album leak, keeping "Vulnicura" off of Spotify, and her proposal for what streaming should become in the music world. "At that point, I had two years of things happening to me that I didn't want to happen to me, so my Buddhist muscle had been well exercised. Okay, another thing has happened to me that I didn't want to happen to me! I have no choice but to deal with it," said Bjork about her album getting leaked two months early, and forcing her to … [Read more...] about Bjork keeps new album off of Spotify

Taylor Swift, pulls albums from Spotify

November 8, 2014 by Archived posts 526 Comments

By Nadia Ahmad |Staff Writer| Taylor Swift made a bold move when she removed all of her albums from Spotify on Nov. 3. No one really knows why, but many believe that it is due to Spotify’s low royalty rates to artists. Swift recently wrote an article in the Wall Street Journal, voicing her opinion against streaming services and said, “Music is art, and art is important and rare. Important, rare things should be paid for. It’s my opinion that music should not be free.” Spotify is a legal music streaming service and app that allows users to access albums from almost any artist, all in one place. The pop sensation released her newest album, 1989, on Oct. 27, which has … [Read more...] about Taylor Swift, pulls albums from Spotify
