Membership benefits include leadership, involvement with school affairs, job opportunities,and networking skills. Juan Herrera, a former brother of Sigma Chi, serves as an example of how these networking opportunities attained from fraternity membership help during the pursuit of job opportunities after graduating from college. The event brought out a lot of people to participate including the men from Sigma Phi Epsilon, and Phi Beta Sigma. It was intended to raise awareness of sexual assault, abuse and rape that happen everyday to women. A Mile In Her Shoes challenged men to wear red women’s high heels and walk a “mile” around the library lawn to show men that it was not easy for a women to look good, but for them to also understand that the things they say when a woman looks “hot” or “sexy” could be taken for sexual assault.
