October 27, 2020 by Eddie Lopez 746 Comments

The CSU Entertainment Alliance held a virtual event teaching students about how to get hired during this pandemic. Five speakers from the entertainment industry spoke during the event, discussing a variety of topics. When the topic of resumés and cover letters was brought up, Shari Holly, host of the seminar and Director of Operations for CSU, explained that jotting down all the jobs one has can potentially hurt the applicants chances. Holly said, “When you are putting down the list of jobs you had on your resumé, quality vs quantity can do more harm than good." Knowing how to put down certain important information on a resumé was also discussed during the seminar. Classes students should take

May 16, 2014 by Archived posts 119 Comments

By Rona Ortiz |Staff Writer| Many students face pressure to obtain their degree as quickly as possible. This can cause students to overlook elective classes that may lead to new interests, or enhance their job skills. Exploring classes in different fields can help undecided students choose a major. “Students should take classes outside of their major to explore other possible career interests,” said Vivian Ortiz. “Taking other classes exposes you to new people and experiences,” Ortiz added. Taking a class for enjoyment can provide a break from the stress of rigorous coursework. A great stress relieving class many enjoy is Yoga. Yoga classes are offered by the Kinesiology Department … [Read more...] about Classes students should take

Research and educate yourself about the company. 3. Prepare and practice for your interview. 4. Create a 30 second “commercial” on why that company should hire you (a … [Read more...] about A guide to impressing employers
