On November 6, Californians came out to vote, and with 100 percent of precincts reporting, the results are in with democrats winning almost every single position. Democratic candidate Gavin Newsom, with almost 60 percent of the vote, soundly beat his Republican opponent John H. Cox in the race for the governor. In the race for lieutenant governor, Eleni Kounalakis beat her fellow Democratic candidate Ed Hernandez. Prop. 51 allows California to borrow $9 billion to improve overall education. "I think it's great because money has been taken away from school over the years and it's obvious it has had an affect on this generation," said student Breanne Downey.
