If you're a local, chances are you have eaten here or even drove by without knowing the impact this restaurant has contributed to Mexican-American cuisine not just in the states but globally. Mitla Cafe opened its doors in San Bernardino 1937 and little did the owner Lucia Rodriguez and Vicente Montaño know that their success would "help" another company reach a network of $10 billion. It is not so much help but being cheated out of. Mitla is known for their fried corn tortilla tacos with ground beef, shredded lettuce and cheese, topped off with diced tomatoes. Sound familiar? Well, that's because it is. That fried taco that helped Mitla Cafe generate business is now one of Taco Bell's … [Read more...] about Mitla Cafe: the taco that started it all

The State Restaurant
By Jacob Strangis |Staff Writer| The State is a restaurant in the city of Redlands that is a must dine experience. The restaurant is located conveniently in downtown Redlands off Orange Street, just south from the 10 East bound freeway. The surrounding area it's located in is clean, well kept and is very welcoming for first timers and returning customers. As a bonus, there are plenty of stores to shop at after enjoying a delicious meal. The restaurant has a unique brewery look to it; there were Edison light bulbs hanging from suspended wooden planks from the ceiling, wild west-themed artwork on the walls and a giant bar with a wooden frame with a large selection of … [Read more...] about The State Restaurant

University Bar & Grill — Restaurant Review
By Danni Ybarra |Staff Writer| Newly-built University Bar & Grill has potential to be a great local hangout for CSUSB students and surrounding residents. Located at 2999 on W. Kendall Dr., it is open from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and closed Sunday and Monday. The new restaurant is the perfect place to stop for a drink after a long day of classes. Having only stopped in once, I have yet to make my final decision on the restaurant as a whole. There were only four other people in the restaurant besides my party of two, and no others arrived during the hour and a half I dined. This was slightly off-putting to me; I … [Read more...] about University Bar & Grill — Restaurant Review
Naan Cafe achieves Nirvana
By Pauline Fontanaud |Staff Writer| The Naan Cafe offers tasty, genuine Indian food, and a diversity of fresh and authentic dishes for great prices. The food was delicious. I had the chicken curry. It was just spicy and warm enough, and the chicken was tender, flavorful, and juicy. The rice and naans went perfectly with my dish. The whole meal was a great experience. “The portions were generous and the chicken pieces in the tikka masala were quite big. It wasn’t drowned in sauce, so we could actually taste the chicken,” said student Sonia C. Open all week from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m., the Naan Cafe is located at 700 E. Redlands Blvd, Redlands. As soon as you enter, you can smell … [Read more...] about Naan Cafe achieves Nirvana
