After a month of denial he admitted to the affair and the text messages on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 with a statement where he takes full responsibility for his actions. Interfaith center opening on campus
By Daniel DeMarco |Staff Writer| The Student Union has just opened a new nondenominational religious/faith center where religious based groups may go to host meetings or to simply hang out. The Interfaith Center is on the second floor between the administrative office and The Blue Coyote Pub And Eatery. According to Mark Day, executive director of the Student Union Administrative Office, it is only a soft opening. The grand opening is going to be in January 2014. It will be treated like any other center in the Student Union, except that there will not be a paid staff. It will be volunteer based. Obama’s birth control mandate is fair
By Sara Nydam|Staff Writer| Catholic Institutions around the country filed a lawsuit on May 20 against President Obama’s controversial birth control mandate that will require all employers to provide birth control coverage through their health insurance benefits. The federal lawsuit argues that Obama’s mandate violates religious freedom by requiring religiously affiliated institutions to provide birth control to their employees. Bead exhibit brings cultural awareness
By Kim Dailey |Staff Writer| CSUSB’s Anthropology Museum is hosting “Beads,” an exhibit displaying different beads and bead work, located on the third floor of the Social and Behavioral Science building. A grand opening reception was held on Tuesday, May 15 from 5-7 p.m. and served refreshments to those who attended, which were about 45 students, faculty and local residents. There are six tall display glass cases and four bulletin board with different types of beads and jewelry. Displayed are summaries on each item that say how they were made, where they come from and what they represent to each culture. Campus “Crusaders” welcome students with open arms
By Tom Stillwagon |Staff Writer| Christians at Cal State should acquaint themselves with Andrew Farison and the Campus Crusade for Christ International. Also known as CRU (pronounced “crew”), the Campus Crusade for Christ was started in the 1950s by Bill Bright at UCLA. What started out as a small campus ministry has since grown, as CRU currently has club branches throughout the world. Farison, the CRU president at CSUSB, did not originally intend to join the club.
