By Erika Aguilar |Staff Writer| Oct. 22 Homeless man killed while sleeping A crash in Ocean Beach, San Diego killed a 60 year-old homeless man while he was sleeping under a tree, on Saturday morning, according to Fox 5 news. The driver was going eastbound on I-8 but in a matter of seconds, lost control of the car and ended up crashing into a tree where the man was sleeping, according to police officers. After the accident, two people helped the driver out of the car and he was taken to UCSD Medical Center for his injuries. El Niño conservation may help drought

By Joel Cruz |Staff Writer| El Niño is currently a welcoming sight for water conservation efforts,  despite the potential for flooding and mudslides as California enters what may be its fifth year of the worst drought in state history. This year's current El Niño system has tied with a system from 1997 as the strongest on record, with wetter conditions for California from January to March, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). By Angelina Garibay Staff Writer Jocelyn Pascual is walking about on campus in crop leggings, a t-shirt with a thin sweatshirt and flip-flops on a 48 degree day. “It was warm in Chino and the sun was out when I left,” said a shivering Pascual. Other students have the opposite problem, it’s freezing cold in their hometown, like Wrightwood, and then it’s hot at school. Since the university seems to have its own special climate because it is located up against the foothills the temperatures vary greatly just a few miles away.
