Get to know the San Manuel Student Union

April 23, 2015 by Archived posts 5 Comments

By Viviana Velasquez and Crystal Montano |Staff Writers| The Santos Manuel Student Union (SMSU) is not just a pass way in between classes, but a form of connection. The SMSU ranges from providing students with socialization, information of upcoming events and a great amount of options at the food court. The aim is to give students the opportunity to interact with new people, grab a bite to eat, and become aware of events. “The Santos Manuel Student Union is the focal point of the campus, creating a home for learning and leisure, as well as contributing to retention of our students,” states the SMSU website, “We will enhance our students’ overall university and life experience … [Read more...] about Get to know the San Manuel Student Union

Students blasé over fees

January 24, 2015 by Archived posts 4 Comments

By Mackenzie Viera |Staff Writer| Coyotes in their junior or senior year seem to lack interest in the mandatory campus fees for the services they may or may not use. CSUSB falls into sixth place of the cheapest colleges in California with an average tuition cost at $18,040, according to collegecalc.org. However, after briefly interviewing students on the cost of attending CSUSB, many were not aware of what exactly they are paying for. Let’s do the math. According to csusb.edu, the tuition fee per quarter is $1,824. Below the total tuition, students seem to overlook the small print that states “mandatory campus charges.” Multiply that amount by three quarters and you have … [Read more...] about Students blasé over fees

Dinner in the Desert: The Salted Pig

February 17, 2012 by Archived posts 164 Comments

By Eric Brown |Online Editor| It's my intention to bring to light some of the finer places to eat around the Inland Empire in this Dinner in the Desert blog. This week I will look at The Salted Pig in Riverside, CA; click on the map to the right for directions and check out my blog below. Located next to the municipal center of Riverside is an exquisite burger bar that specializes in pork manifestations and craft brew. The Salted Pig is easy to miss tucked away next to tall buildings in downtown Riverside, and from the outside it is not ornately adorned, but as soon as you step inside you forget you were standing next to bleak city buildings as you are greeted with its cozy hide-away … [Read more...] about Dinner in the Desert: The Salted Pig

NFL has surprises for all

October 17, 2011 by Archived posts 564 Comments

By Ashlynne Macan |Staff Writer| The National Football League has sparked up quite a stir on campus. Students often head up to the San Manuel Student Union Pub to watch Monday night football. You hear them talking about recent plays, what the teams could have done better, and what they expect from each player or team. They also get upset at referee calls and the disappointment of the teams’ plays. Some students were surprised at how well some of the teams in the NFL have played thus far, and were also let down by the teams that they thought would do well. “Something that [has surprised] me is how great the Buffalo Bills are playing this year. They were one of the laughingstocks … [Read more...] about NFL has surprises for all
