Persona 5 steals gamers free time

April 15, 2017 by Robert Klimper Leave a Comment

By Robert Klimper |Staff Writer| Gamers can take the lead of a gang of thieves and steal corrupt hearts in hopes of making the world a better in “Persona 5 (P5).” The sixth installment of the “Persona” franchise was released worldwide on April 4, 2017 after several delays since its originally planned release in winter of 2014. It was released in Japan on Sept. 15, 2016. Even though this is the sixth entry into the franchise, new players do not have to worry. As has been the case since “Persona 3,” the game can be enjoyed on its own merit, outside of minor references to previous installments. Atlus, the producers of the “Persona” series, improves upon the elements that fans of the … [Read more...] about Persona 5 steals gamers free time

“Twisted Metal” wreaks violent vengeance onto PS3

February 12, 2012 by Archived posts 3 Comments

By Brian Chidueme |Staff Writer| The PlayStation legacy is never complete without "Twisted Metal." Since the series’ birth on its birthing platform back in 1995 and its immortalization in 1996 with “Twisted Metal 2,” the car-combat series has played a huge role in shaping PlayStation’s foundation. It is not only the longest running franchise on the console, but also the most successful car-combat franchise to date. On Feb. 14, the "Twisted Metal" series will officially crash and burn its way back on to the PlayStation 3 with a new reboot. It will blend a style combining the roots and feel of the original title with the gritty style of “Twisted Metal: Black,” which is arguably … [Read more...] about “Twisted Metal” wreaks violent vengeance onto PS3

By Nigel Hamblin |Staff Writer| The best-selling first-person shooter (FPS) franchise of all time has arrived on the scene, and it’s back with the next evolution of Call of Duty online gameplay. “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3” (CoD: MW3) brings in new twists and improvements to multiplayer gameplay, making it more of a modified, but better Modern Warfare 2. The most significant change in gameplay comes from the new reward system. In MW2, good players were rewarded for getting high kills and low deaths in multi-player matches, but MW3 is giving players with different play styles the same opportunity to be rewarded. In other words, you don’t have to be a one-man army to earn … [Read more...] about “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3” aims to redefine gaming

By: Nigel Hamblin |Staff Writer| It's a little more than a week away before Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (MW3) hits stores and shows its hand before Battlefield 3 (BF3), which was released last Tuesday. The big question on every gamers mind is how will it do? When it comes to sales, it will undoubtedly sell more than BF3. Due to its easy learning curve and run-and-gun style of multiplayer gameplay, Call of Duty has always had the advantage of mass appeal, especially for the gamers who don't have the patience for Battlefield's play style. But the most important question of all concerning MW3 is what does it bring new to the table? Graphically, the game doesn't look much … [Read more...] about Modern Warfare 3 looms on the horizon

The online battlefield opens up

October 21, 2011 by Archived posts Leave a Comment

by Nigel Hamblin | Staff Writer| Load up gamers. The season of the shooters (FPS) has officially begun. Battlefield 3 is finally here and the bar has been set for the competition, specifically Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. So does Battlefield 3 hold up after all the hype Electronic Arts has been building? The answer is a simple “hell yes.” The most impressive improvement is developer DICE’s new game engine, Frostbite 2. Frostbite 2 is truly a marvel of modern gaming technology, improving on the previous engine and displaying the most breathtaking visuals in any video game to date. The scenery is expansive and detailed with desert, mountain and city landscapes, making it feel as … [Read more...] about The online battlefield opens up
