By Jacob Strangis |Staff Writer| Cuba, once our enemy, can now be a place for American tourists to travel and for corporate interests to thrive. “Touristic Nostalgia in Tomorrow’s Cuba” was a one hour event held on May 16 in the Santos Manuel Student Union hosted by Dr. Kaifa Roland. The United States, along with other world super powers, have had very little influence on Cuba since it has been partly in isolation. By Daniel DeMarco |Copy Editor| Throughout my life, I’ve often heard people express some variation of: “Well, you’ve got to respect everyone’s beliefs/opinions.” I’m sure you reading this have also heard something like this in your life, at least once, and perhaps you may have even said it yourself. In reality, you do not need to respect everyone’s beliefs, nor should you. Statements advocating respect for everyone’s beliefs and opinions are a trick; they seem, at first, harmless―even worth supporting―because they adhere to respect and equality to others. “Bathrooms For All” event creates neutral place
By Aimee Villalpando |Staff Writer| Individuals of different sexes were able to use the same restroom in last week’s “Restrooms For All” event in the Santos Manuel Student Union (SMSU). From Nov. 17 to Nov. 21, the campus community had the option of using the gender-neutral restrooms. The Pride Center hosted the event in an effort to create spaces where people of all gender identities could access restrooms without the fear of gender policing or segregation. The purpose of the event was to help educate the campus about issues related to transgender and other non-binary gender communities. CSUSB hosts informational event for prospective college students
By Angela Rodriguez |Staff Writer| CSUSB celebrated College Awareness Month Saturday, Feb. 9, presenting an informational “College: Making it Happen” event for young students interested in going to college. The informational was held in the College of Education building room 105 for students in grades 6-8 and parents interested in learning about how to prepare for future educational opportunities. The informational intended to encourage students from middle school to high school that college can be affordable. The event was free and open to the public along with complimentary parking.
