By Janet Curiel |Staff Writer| Students were feeling the “bern” at the “Bernstorm” event in the SMSU on May 4, hosted by Students for Bernie Sanders Club.   The club, which has gained roughly 200 members since February, had over 20 people attend the event.   With attendees ranging from students to local residents, plans of how to get students involved on the campaign trail with topics such as phone banking, canvassing, flyers and voter registration were discussed.   “CSUSB needed leadership to step up, so myself and other officers decided to start organizing and the club took off from there. Santorum takes lead in GOP primaries

By Jacqueline Scholten |Staff Writer| A surprise victory was given to Rick Santorum, former senator of Pennsylvania, who won all three election contests taking place on Feb 7. This has shaken the Mitt Romney campaign and reminded Republicans that there is a long way to go in the race for the Republican nominee. Santorum won elections in Minnesota, Missouri and Colorado. Colorado and Minnesota were caucus elections and Missouri was a “beauty contest” primary, consequently no electoral votes were awarded for any of them. “I think it lends validity to the caucuses here in Iowa.
