Students get cooled at Splash-a-Poolooza

May 24, 2014 by Archived posts 1,223 Comments

By Melissa Gilbert |Staff Writer| The pool was taken over by about 80 students looking to escape the heat and enjoy the Splash-a-Pooloza. The event took place on May 15 at the campus pool and was a success. Many people are not even aware there is a pool on campus. This event was a way to make students aware. A large inflated iceberg replica was placed in the middle of the pool. Fearless students climbed and jumped off the iceberg. Limbo, relay races and a watermelon eating contest gave the event the feeling of a neighborhood pool party. The Rec Center, along with the Santos Manuel Student Union (SMSU), provided free food to all the participants. Snow cones, hot dogs and nachos … [Read more...] about Students get cooled at Splash-a-Poolooza

February 7, 2014 by Archived posts 568 Comments

By Marlyn Rodriguez |Staff Writer| While at CSUSB there are seven things I dare you try. Being involved and finding some escape from our chaotic and busy schedules is crucial. The good thing is that we are a part of a very active campus looking for proactive people to take part in activities. “Keep yourself busy and have fun while you’re here,” said student Kendall Smith. “Give everything your all.” There is always something happening on campus at different times and days of the week to accommodate students’ schedules. Here are a few things I recommend you try doing while on campus. 1) Recreational Center If you need to relieve some stress and want to stay fit, visiting our … [Read more...] about Try something new: Seven things you must before you graduate

Water polo keeping heads above water

April 21, 2012 by Archived posts

By Ray Beasley |Staff Writer| Exciting water polo action took place on April 15 when the Coyotes took to the pool to nearly defeat the heavily favored Sonoma State Seawolves. The Coyotes took an early 3-1 lead over the Seawolves and led by as many as three goals as they led 6–3 at one point. Unfortunately they could not maintain the momentum as they were outscored 0-5 in the second quarter. The Coyotes were able to counter with three additional goals of their own, but the Seawolves were able to add five more of their own, winning the contest 10–9. As many local CSUSB students may know, this season has not been great for the struggling water polo team. Unsuccessful close games … [Read more...] about Water polo keeping heads above water
