By Noe Ramos |Staff Writer| The exhibit “Beyond The Fences/Mas Alla de los Fences” opened on Jan. 17 at the University of Redlands' art gallery. CSUSB professors Thomas McGovern and Juan Delgado, along with professor Raul Acero from the University of Redlands, collaborated to make the exhibit possible. Delgado specializes in poetry, literature, translation theory and creative writing. McGovern specializes in documentaries and photography. Speak Yo Truth express all at open mic night
By Arthur Medrano |Staff Writer| Students and poets expressed their thoughts on racism, love and politics at the "Speak Yo Truth" event held by the Cross Cultural Center. Performers were able to do a spoken word piece and used instruments to sing or recite their own personal poems as crowds cheered on with rounds of encouragement and satisfaction on March 7. There was a cohesive mix of new talent and seasoned veterans of artists around campus. David J. Daniels channels poetic voice
By Ezequiel Ramos |Staff Writer| He described the shot as a “pink spark that lit up the courtyard,” and characterized the individual as “a saint who suffered gangs and taggings.” David J. Daniels was welcomed by CSUSB at the Pfau Library, as he entertained everyone with his descriptive and visual poetry. Daniels is a professor at the University of Denver and is currently the poetry editor of the Pebble Lake Review. He is best known for being the winner of the Four Way Books Intro Prize, and has appeared in numerous journals and anthologies.
