With 20 strikeouts, and six shut out innings, Wells was named the first California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the 2016 season. “It’s a nice award to have, but in the light of things, I’m just trying to go out there, and compete with my team," said Wells. “Whatever I do out there on the field isn’t for any award, it isn’t for myself, it’s for us,” continued Wells. CSUSB baseball returns with new faces
By Willis Torres [Staff Writer] Coyotes will be welcoming their new Head Coach David Martinez as the 2016 baseball season approaches. Martinez, a graduate of CSUSB, has a strong history as a pitching coach. He's worked with universities such as Dixie State University of Utah, University of New Mexico, and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Martinez will be working with other members of the coaching staff who include Coach Brett Hambright and Coach Joe Villa. This will be the first season Hambright will be coaching for the Coyotes. After graduating from Palmdale High School in 2010, Kelley knew CSUSB was the right choice. “I chose CSUSB because it was close to home and I liked how the pitchers have always succeeded here. I believe it has worked out well for me,” said Kelley. Kelley has always had supporters fill the stands at his games. “My family and my girlfriend come to every single game. The support from his family has become a big part in Kelley’s career. His dad and grandpa were his coaches and has helped him grow through the years. Guerra’s ambitions extend beyond the game

Not only is he finding success in college athletics, but he’s taking control of his future here at CSUSB as well. Guerra began attending CSUSB in September after getting his Associate of Arts at Western Nevada College in Carson City, Nevada. According to Guerra, he learned a lot at that campus and was taught what it meant to work hard. He will be getting his bachelor’s degree in Psychology sometime next year. Caruso hopes to get second chance at big league dreams
By Britney Carter |Staff Writer| After declining to pursue a career in the MLB last season in order to finish his last year at CSUSB, Corey Caruso has great expectations for himself and his team this upcoming season. Caruso was drafted in the 50th round of the 2011 MLB draft by the Miami Marlins last year.
