In the library students have access to group study rooms for at least two or more people to get their work done or to make group work more convenient. Individuals cannot hold a room for a group, and any individual occupying a group study room must vacate it if a group arrives. Carlos Morton entertains CSUSB
By Ericka Ruiz |Staff Writer| Laughter filled the room at the Pfau library Oct. 10 when students from CSUSB improvised a reading from a play written by playwright Carlos Morton. With October being Hispanic Heritage Month, the Dean of the Library, Cesar Cabarello and staff had the honor to invite Morton to the library this past Thursday. Morton, known for his Chicano playwright achievements, has a doctorate in Theater Arts and is a professor at UC Santa Barbara. He has had numerous amounts of successful theatrical productions that have gained popularity not only in the U.S. but abroad as well. BMX Flatlander promotes sport at CSUSB
By Chelsea Underwood |Asst. Sports Editor| Red Bull flatland BMX athlete Terry Adams performed a demo at CSUSB on Sept. 24 as part of a two week SoCal Red Bull college tour. The Louisiana native travels along with his sponsor, Red Bull promoting the sport of flatland riding to the surrounding colleges and their students. “Our goal is to hit a lot of different schools,” said Sam Bennett, Inland Empire Red Bull Field Marketing Specialist. “It’s such a cool campus when everybody always, like right now there is a lot of people outside so the concept was to do a demo out while people can walk by and be surprised with the skill set and be blown away by it all. Pfau Library hosts Holocaust exhibit
By Angela E. Rodriguez |Staff Writer| CSUSB is proud to host the Museum of Tolerance’s traveling exhibit “The Courage to Remember the Holocaust” displayed in the John M. Pfau Library April 30–May 21 on the first floor. Last Monday’s opening ceremony and reception for the exhibit began at 5:30 p.m. on the fourth floor of the Pfau Library. This traveling exhibit is part of the well-known Simon Wiesenthal Center’s Museum of Tolerance located in Los Angeles. It is displayed for free and open to the public during library hours. The renowned museum is the first of its kind ever, named after famous Nazi hunter Simon Wiesenthal. Motown influences Black America

Pfau Library and Black Faculty, Staff and Student Association presented a lecture last Thursday, “Remembering Motown: The Politics of Sound and Performance.” According to the chair of theatre arts department and host Kathryn Erwin, the seminar covered how “Motown influenced popular culture and re-created the image of Black America.” The event was part of the Noontime Lecture Series held by the Pfau Library and took place Feb. 16 on the fourth floor.
