By Robert Klimper |Copy Editor| Capcom offers up new and old survival horror fans a chance to revisit the zombie outbreak in Raccoon City with Resident Evil 2. Resident Evil 2 is a full HD remake of the original ‘98 title of the same name, unlike a remaster, which would just be the original game with updated graphics, this game is in its own way a new and original title. While the story of this game shares similarities with the original game, certain characters and plot points are given more focus and relevance due to a change in how video game stories are expected to be nowadays and no longer having the limitations of older hardware. The story of Resident Evil 2 involves two … [Read more...] about Video Game Review: Resident Evil 2

Cuphead Review
It has been over five years in the making, but the 1930s cartoon-inspired videogame “Cuphead” finally released Sept. 29, and I decided to see if this beautiful game is as good as it looks. Cuphead is one of those games that I have heard about for years, but honestly, I was never sure if I would get to play it. While the game visuals look amazing, it is only for the Xbox One and the PC, which are two systems that I do not game on. However, I am happy to report that the game has very low system requirements; my cheap outdated laptop runs it without overheating. Cuphead is a 2-D action platforming game, similar to the old “Mega Man” games for the Nintendo Entertainment System, but with … [Read more...] about Cuphead Review
Outlast review: Prepare to be petrified
By Phil Ruddle |News Editor| I've disconnected myself from the real world, turned off the lights, and raised the TV volume. I'm petrified. Yet, I can't look away while being on the edge of my seat and barely able to hold the controller. "Outlast" is terrifying and one of the most original survival horror games in years, I definitely give it a four out of five rating. This game provides a different spin as there aren't any weapon upgrades, items, skill set attributes or even the ability to fight back. Your only options are to run, hide, or die. There are pacing drawbacks, the second half is not as good as the first, and some might not like the system of not being able to … [Read more...] about Outlast review: Prepare to be petrified

“Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3” aims to redefine gaming
By Nigel Hamblin |Staff Writer| The best-selling first-person shooter (FPS) franchise of all time has arrived on the scene, and it’s back with the next evolution of Call of Duty online gameplay. “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3” (CoD: MW3) brings in new twists and improvements to multiplayer gameplay, making it more of a modified, but better Modern Warfare 2. The most significant change in gameplay comes from the new reward system. In MW2, good players were rewarded for getting high kills and low deaths in multi-player matches, but MW3 is giving players with different play styles the same opportunity to be rewarded. In other words, you don’t have to be a one-man army to earn … [Read more...] about “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3” aims to redefine gaming
Modern Warfare 3 looms on the horizon
By: Nigel Hamblin |Staff Writer| It's a little more than a week away before Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (MW3) hits stores and shows its hand before Battlefield 3 (BF3), which was released last Tuesday. The big question on every gamers mind is how will it do? When it comes to sales, it will undoubtedly sell more than BF3. Due to its easy learning curve and run-and-gun style of multiplayer gameplay, Call of Duty has always had the advantage of mass appeal, especially for the gamers who don't have the patience for Battlefield's play style. But the most important question of all concerning MW3 is what does it bring new to the table? Graphically, the game doesn't look much … [Read more...] about Modern Warfare 3 looms on the horizon
