Whether it be a hike in the local mountains, an overnight camping trip to a local beach, state or national park, backpacking in the wilderness, snowboarding in local mountain resorts, surfing in California’s beaches, kayaking in the river, the bay, or the ocean. San Bernardino County is home to several national, regional and state parks. The parks are easily accessible and everyone is welcome. Rentals and custom trips – mission of Rec Center

The Rec Center offers a variety of sporting goods for rent at no charge. These item include snowboard equipment, skiing gear, rockclimbing equipment, etc. "The rental process is very easy and pretty quick," said Rec Center employee Stephanie Lasater. This relaxing and fulfilling experience could be yours. CSUSB Recreation and Wellness Center (Rec Center) offers camping trips throughout the quarter. The trips are scheduled between May and September and a variety of locations are explored. The next destination is Yosemite National Park. This trip is scheduled for April 29 through May 1. Rec Center Snowboarding Trips

By Willis Torres |Staff Writer| Spring is right around the corner, which means the time to get some last minute snowboarding in is rapidly approaching. Thankfully, the staff at the Rec. Center have various snowboarding trips scheduled throughout the month of February. The next scheduled date for snowboarding at Mountain High is Feb. 18 from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. For Snow Valley, the next trip is planned for Feb. 20 from 7:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. The deadline to sign up for Mt. High is Feb. 16 and Feb. 17 for Snow Valley. The costs for attending either location through the Rec. Center varies for students, $40 for Mt. Rec center offers hikes in Joshua Tree

Kaila Morales | Staff Writer The Rec Center is offering two upcoming trips to Joshua Tree National Park: One being a camping trip from Jan. 30-31 and the other being a Valentine's Day hiking trip. Joshua Tree National Park is located in between the San Bernardino and Riverside counties. The park is known for their two desert landscapes and ecosystem. The two deserts include granite boulders and Joshua tree forest, which makes for spectacular sights to see. The sunsets and natural rock formations are major highlights of the park. The program offers day hiking, overnight camping, taking trips to national parks, backpacking in the wilderness, and snowboarding. County Museum scores on cultural and natural history

The San Bernardino County Museum, was founded in the early 50’s in Bloomington, California, is a regional type of museum with collections and exhibits relating to cultural and natural history. It moved to its present location in 1974 complete with an upper level, lower level, and an outside to view. Take the perfect opportunity and visit Yosemite National Park on the Rec Center's Yosemite Winter Exploration trip. Richard Burrud |Staff Writer| CSUSB Rec Center will be hosting the Snowshoe hike will be Dec. 20 from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. and a Hollywood sign and Griffith Observatory hike on Jan. 18 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Come enjoy the serene beauty of San Jacinto Mountains through snowshoeing. This rewarding hike offers spectacular views of nature and wildlife. Participants will depart from campus at 8 a.m. and drive up to a winter wonderland. Once there, members will board the Palm Springs tram and head up to the top of the San Jacinto Mountain.
