For CSUSB students, healthcare is incredibly important and they have been searching for those basic medical aids in the community at an affordable price. There are many resources on campus that are affordable or at no cost. For uninsured university students, the health center provides students coverage for just $90.26 per quarter. This includes seeing a doctor, psychologist, and basic care. But when it comes to x-rays and medicine, the cost is at a low fee. Vaccinations like the flu shot, are being provided for free this quarter for students, while it is $10 for faculty and staff on November 7 at the SMSU. The California Health Care Almanac has provided a health insurance … [Read more...] about Health Care

Health care should be priority for all
By Alejandro Cardenas |Staff Writer| The Affordable Care Act, known as Obamacare, is good for America because it has, and will continue to insure millions of people who did not previously have access to healthcare. Although some people have experienced inconveniences, the Kaiser Family Foundation estimates that the national rate of uninsured Americans has already dropped by a full percentage point since last year, and state medicaid enrollment has increased by 14 percent. Although a one percent increase may not seem like much, I believe that any increase in the amount of insured Americans is significant, and this number will more than likely grow as word of its benefits … [Read more...] about Health care should be priority for all

What to consider when choosing health insurance
By Daniel DeMarco |Staff Writer| The Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, has launched, but there are other options for health insurance. Obamacare was created for a purpose presented in the official title: To provide affordable health care for the masses in the form of a marketplace. According to CNN, most Americans won’t have to use the new marketplace because they will still be getting next year’s insurance plan through work. Brandon Crane (full-time factory worker, age 29) said, “I’m not really concerned with Obamacare, I’m happy with the insurance that my job gives me.” Many argue that a healthcare plan is not something that should be chosen quickly or randomly, … [Read more...] about What to consider when choosing health insurance

Obamacare leads to government shut down
By Andy Quintana |Staff Writer| The federal budget failed to pass early October, because the “Grand Old Party” wanted to defund Obamacare once again. Obamacare should not have been involved in the decision to pass the federal budget. Obamacare should have been a separate issue from the budget altogether. Republicans have made efforts to put a holt on Obamacare for a long time. As the time came for a new federal budget to be created GOP seized an opportunity to defund Obamacare through; fear that a federal budget would not be passed, leading to a government shutdown. USA Today explained, “the motivation House Republicans had in placing an amendment to defund … [Read more...] about Obamacare leads to government shut down
