CSUSB ranks highest debt percentage in CA

By Angel Lizardi |Staff Writer| CSUSB graduates have the highest student loan debt average of any Cal State or UC in the State at $23,656. Although CSUSB is the highest in the state, the state system ranks 46th in terms of students leaving with highest debt. The debt ratio is the amount owed by every graduate of this university. This is according to the website projectonstudentdebt.org, which is an initiative of the Institute for College Access & Success (TICAS), a nonprofit independent research and policy organization dedicated to making college more available and affordable to people of all backgrounds. Obama advocates for pushing the penny out of circulation

By Angela Rodriguez |Staff Writer| During a recent online chat sponsored by Google, President Obama announced his support in retiring the penny and suggested the one cent coin is a “good metaphor” for some of the larger problems facing lawmakers as they seek to reduce the deficit. “I will tell you right now, this will not be a huge savings for government, but anytime we’re spending more money on something that people don’t actually use that’s an example of something we should change,” said Obama in the Google+ Hangout chat. Obama aims at healthcare costs to tackle trillion dollar deficit

By Kyla Cook |Staff Writer| On the heels of a proposed government shutdown, President Obama gave a speech on April 13 at George Washington University on his view of how the nation’s budget should be laid out. Obama proposed a $4 trillion deficit reduction over the next 12 years. The president announced four steps to reduce the nation’s deficit. The first of these is to lower domestic spending which he says will save $750 billion over the next 12 years.
