By Caleb Gasteiger |Staff Writer| YouTube plans to charge a fee for certain videos and channels even though the plan comes under fire from many of its users. A fee of $0.99 cents or more could be charged for viewing certain channels that would incorporate TV shows and films, along with only-for-YouTube series and events, according to a YouTube spokesperson to Mobileentertainment. “It’s a bad move on their part,” said Dr. Ahlam Muhtaseb, a professor at CSUSB and social media expert. “You create a culture where people are used to accessing free things and then when you change that, you are going to have problems,” she said. CFA asks members for strike authorization
By Alejandra Arana|Staff Writer| The California Faculty Association will hold a vote next week concerning an authorized strike as the union seeks to settle a contract dispute with the Chancellor’s Office. Since 2010 there has not been a single successful contract for the faculty and staff of the CSU system that both parties have agreed upon. “Active members of the CFA will be able to vote for a contract that provides them with the security of a raise and smaller class sizes to improve the learning experience of students along with other important details of their work,” states the CFA Magazine.
