By Luis Petty |Staff Writer| Director of Athletics Dr. Kevin Hatcher announced the cancellation of women’s water polo and the addition of women’s track and field for the 2014-2015 year that took effect March 21. Associate Director of Media Relations Mark Reinhiller, clarified some uncertainties about the statement released by Hatcher on the recent cancellation. Reinhiller referred to Hatcher’s announcement and explained women’s water polo was the only sport not included in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) and that they belonged to the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA), a league not associated with the CCAA. By Essence Dennis |Staff Writer| The issues within the city of San Bernardino were discussed at the city council meeting held on Tuesday, Feb. 18. Important topics presented at the council meeting were the city’s bankruptcy, Omnitrans, and San Bernardino’s new mayor. Carey Davis, who was elected new mayor of San Bernardino on Feb. 4, was the topic of some discussion during the meeting. “I don’t think voting for a new mayor is a good idea because of all the money troubles we’ve had so far,” said student Monica Pham-Luu. Water Polo splashing to make waves
By Carley Bennecke |Staff Writer| The Coyotes’ women’s water polo team suffered two losses at the Whittier Aquatic Center on Feb. 8. They battled in their first 10:20 a.m game against Pomona-Pitzer College. Coyotes were down 6-1 after the first period, and 11-4 at the break. The Coyotes lost by over 10 points: Pomona-Pitzer 17, Coyotes 6. Junior goalkeeper Madison Morris had three saves in the first half. The game remained one-sided throughout as the Coyotes struggled.
