By Martin Solano |Staff Writer| On March 16, the San Manuel Amphitheater will be transformed into a fantasy world filled with eclectic visuals, live dance music and most importantly an electric crowd of thousands for Insomniac's Beyond Wonderland Festival. The annual electronic dance music event has been held in San Bernardino since 2010 and with Insomniac's reputation for throwing massively popular parties like EDC (Electronic Daisy Carnival), Beyond Wonderland is panning out to be nothing short of spectacular this year. Along with the huge array of fantasy characters, props, dancers, and entertainers, the Insomniac crew spends thousands, if not millions of dollars on stage … [Read more...] about Beyond Wonderland looks to be beyond epic
By Martin Solano |Staff Writer| Beach Fossil's second album release, Clash The Truth, surprised me, 14 tracks filled with great music. Although I was faced with another challenge in reviewing a band I’d never heard of, I was glad to say I’ve kept it steady bumpin’ in my headphones for the past few days. I wasn’t sure what to think at first since rock music isn’t really my genre of choice, although I enjoy it I am not one to go out and listen to an entire rock album. With that said, Clash the Truth was heard in its entirety more times than I can count on one hand. Beach Fossils began as a solo project for Dustin Payseur and has now evolved into a full band, with random … [Read more...] about Beach Fossils’ Sophmore Effort Delivers

As I was making my way inside, I was able to speak to Leslie Gonzalez, vice president of the Coyote Music Society (CMS). CMS was in charge of coordinating and sponsoring the event along with the CSUSB Music Department. I discovered that these dance events are held to help raise funds that create musical scholarships which are awarded to students majoring in music on … [Read more...] about Jazz ‘n swing dancin all night

Olsen recalls her youth growing up in Greenland, and how she began doing art. “As long as I remember, I have always been playing, and trying to be creative. I was usually just home in my room, so I had to do something to entertain myself,” said Olsen. However, art was not something that she thought she could find a long term career in. After high school, she decided to study social work, hoping she could at least … [Read more...] about Student Spotlight: Greenland, stand up!
By Martin Solano |Staff Writer| Coachella Music Festival's lineup is out and the show is right around the corner. This week for Coyote Watch we surveyed several students on campus and asked them a few questions about Coachella. Matt Slocum(Sophomore): "I have a lot of friends [who] go every year, [but] I’ve never been. I briefly looked over [the lineup]...it's cool; it's like really diverse. It goes from artists like 2chainz to Modest Mouse. I like the older bands like the Red Hot Chili Peppers, I'd like to see them. That would be cool. [The line-up] doesn't have as much hip-hop it seems like last year, it's kinda different you know?" Mayra Beltran(Freshman): "I've seen … [Read more...] about Coyote Watch: Coachella Music Festival 2013
