DJ Pleaze, DJ Infinity and Kid Disko pumped up students with their custom beats in CSUSB’s first DJ Master Competition. The DJ Master Competition featured some very talented students. It was hosted by the new campus’ club Underground Music Society (UMS), and with some support from Red Bull, CSUSB welcomed three disk jockeys to participate in a 15 minute spin-off. “We wanted to bring some of the music scene to CSUSB and connect students through music,” said Emmanuel Rodriguez, UMS president. Muslim Students open doors to all students
By Marina Rangel |Staff Writer| The CSUSB Muslim Student Association (MSA) gives students a chance to connect through discussion, prayer and sharing. MSA opens their meetings and events to all students no matter their religious affiliation. Created in 1963, the National MSA supports chapters throughout universities to meet the needs of Muslim students and bring education to those who are interested. “Come check us out. The line wrapped around the corner as students anticipated their five-minute FREE massage. In a fast moving world how can we take a second to relax? Even relaxation can seem rushed for students because of their pressed schedules. Vogel named millionth user at Rec Sports
By Marina Rangel |Staff Writer| The Student Recreation and Fitness Center celebrated its millionth visit Feb. 2, by giving away a prize package worth over $10,000 to one lucky member who was showered with beach balls after checking in as “One in a Million.” It came as a huge surprise to the lucky millionth visitor student David Vogel, who was met with beach balls, cake and a giant check after entering Rec Sports. Vogel received a lifetime membership to the Rec Sports, free parking for a quarter, 12 personal training sessions, one free outdoor’s trip, one year locker rental, Mad Rock climbing shoes, $100 rental credit and 10 guest passes along with some promotional items. Special student tax deductions revealed
By Marina Rangel |Staff Writer| Over $2,000 could be resting comfortably in our wallets rather than hiking to the federal government, if only students realized the savings they could be making on their federal taxes. In a "Tax Talk" hosted by the Osher Re-entry Center on Tuesday Jan. 24, representatives from the nearby H&R Block spoke to students about the student deductions they could be missing out on. "Students need to be interested in this sort of thing," said representative Victor Malone, urging the importance of knowing available student benefits in the tax world.
