By Natalie Padron |Staff Writer| The Met Gala, also known as "The Oscars of Fashion," started as a gala to fundraise for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in New York City. It is one of the biggest fundraisers in the city with a record of $12 million raised in 2014 and the price of tickets for those uninvited continue to rise to now $35,000 to uphold its exclusivity. The Met Gala has been active since 1964, but the event that it is today did not get started until 1971 with the theme "Fashion Plate," and every year since then there has been a theme for the guests to interpret correlating with that year's exhibit. Bead exhibit brings cultural awareness
By Kim Dailey |Staff Writer| CSUSB’s Anthropology Museum is hosting “Beads,” an exhibit displaying different beads and bead work, located on the third floor of the Social and Behavioral Science building. A grand opening reception was held on Tuesday, May 15 from 5-7 p.m. and served refreshments to those who attended, which were about 45 students, faculty and local residents. There are six tall display glass cases and four bulletin board with different types of beads and jewelry. Displayed are summaries on each item that say how they were made, where they come from and what they represent to each culture. By Nicole Maldonado |Staff Writer| It’s 1:55 p.m. and you make it to the door just in time for your exam when you remember you forgot the most vital utensil for a midterm—a Scantron. You run to the Santos Manuel Student Union only to find all vending locations are completely out of the test taking material you need. Without spare change on you to purchase one, you race back to class, late. “Does anyone have an extra Scantron I can borrow?” you ask breathlessly, disrupting the beginning of the test.
