Fontana hosts Jazz ‘n Art Celebration
By Mintimer Avila |Staff Writer|While most schools have been hit with budget cuts and have had to cut their art programs, the city of Fontana has reached out to the younger generation in hopes of giving children and local residents the art they might be missing out on. Fontana hosted its Jazz 'n Art celebration in front of the Lewis Library on Feb. 22, where performers got together for an afternoon of smooth jazz and unique art. There was a variety of local artists that were showcasing and selling their art to the public. Artist Jared Tumbarello drew the crowd in with his interesting use of spray paint. Tumbarello used quick bursts of spray paint, occasionally using a brush to … [Read more...] about Fontana hosts Jazz ‘n Art Celebration
You know you go to CSUSB when…
By Adrian Carlos |Staff Writer| Endless Starbucks line, building frustration from waiting for a parking spot that seems will never appear and waking up frantically in the Student Union after over-sleeping. These are just a few of the things that unite us as students and characterize CSUSB pride. What makes CSUSB students different from students from other universities? I asked students around campus to give me their opinion on what embodies the students here. You know you're a CSUSB student when... "You see the sun come and go down on the same day from the library," said Ivanna Carlos. "When your favorite color and all your clothes are now blue," said Quinn … [Read more...] about You know you go to CSUSB when…
Reduce stress with 10 minutes of meditation
By Diana Ramos |Staff Writer| Students worry about many things such as exams, homework, studying and sometimes jobs. They get to be very overwhelmed and do not know how to relieve stress in a healthy way. Meditating 10 minutes a day can help students be less overwhelmed and stressed. They offer two 10 minute sessions, one at 11:30 a.m. and the other at 12 p.m. on the Pfau Library’s front lawn. Students should print in the Learning Center
By Shanieka Perrier |Staff Writer| I think using the Learning Center to print papers is better than using the Pfau Library, Jack Brown Hall and SMSU’s Cross Cultural Center. The advantage is it is cheaper to print there than anywhere else on campus. I used to think that the Learning Center should go paperless. When I went to find out why they haven’t, I discovered it’s cheaper not to go paperless. Surprising, right? It’s better for them to use a paper system and not the card-swiping machines because using the machines is costly. Printing was once 10 cents per page everywhere. But due to the maintenance cost they raised the price to 15 cents per page which is more money out of the … [Read more...] about Students should print in the Learning Center
