Congratulations to Owen Odigie from Sigma Chi Fraternity who was crowned their Wish King 2012. Their Stroll Fest event had every seat in the event center filled, and each fraternity and sorority that competed truly represented their organization to it’s fullest. Last week Sigma Chi Fraternity hosted their annual Derby Days and helped raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network. Congratulations to Erin Leach from Kappa Delta Sorority for winning the title of Derby Darling and helping raise the most money to donate to the Children’s Miracle Network. This week the gentlemen of Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity will be hosting their philanthropy week. Women of participating sororities and the coed fraternity on campus will be helping raise money for Delta Sigma Phi’s Queen of the Nile title. CSUSB joins the “One Day Without Shoes” Challenge
By Angela E. Rodriguez |Staff Writer| CSUSB students took off their shoes to join the TOMS “One Day Without Shoes” Challenge on April 10 in front of John M. Pfau Library. Students walked from 12 to 2 p.m. to raise awareness about the deprived children in less fortunate countries who have no shoes. According to the TOMS website, the leading cause of disease in developing countries are soil-transmitted infections. The site states, “wearing shoes can prevent these diseases along with cuts, sores and other infections.” By not wearing shoes, participants got to walk in the footsteps of children vulnerable to the hazards of living without these necessities. This week the Panhellinic Council Sororities such as Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, Alpha Phi Sorority, Kappa Delta Sorority and Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority have gained about 30-34 new sisters to each organization.
