The Oct. 21 game saw the men play at the StubHub Center, home of the LA Galaxy, with an opportunity to climb a couple of places in the standings. The ‘Yotes conceded three in the first half, after what seemed to be against the run of possession. Midfielder Diego Casillas scored from just outside the 18-yard box, bending a ball into the upper right corner. By Kieron Coleman |Staff Writer| When a student athlete gets injured they rely on the knowledge of the athletic trainers to get back on their feet. Laura Tropila is the main trainer of the well-being and rehabilitation of our student-athletes. Tropila earned her bachelor's degree in kinesiology from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and later earned her master's from the University of Arizona. With such a short season in college athletics, the training room is somewhere many would rather avoid spending their time. Men’s soccer dominant in 6-0 victory
By Lauren Jennings |Sports Editor| CSUSB men's soccer played an unforgettable game against the Stanislaus State Warriors. The Coyotes outshot the Warriors 20-13 while outscoring them 6-0 to earn their seventh shutout of the year. The first goal was scored on a free kick by Coyote defender Eric Lavery, his second of the year. Midfielder Hieu Ngo scored the second goal of the game with an assist from forward Ivan Quintero. The goal was Ngo's first of the year and the final goal in the first half of the game. Defender Axel Cruz scored the third goal of the game with an assist from forward Kieron Coleman. Coach Spotlight: Darren Leslie
By Kieron Coleman |Staff Writer| From an underachieving season last year, the Coyote men’s soccer team has already seen a dramatic turnaround this season. A major change for the men's soccer team includes seeing Darren Leslie step up from the position of assistant coach to take the leadership role as interim head coach. Leslie has two goals for the season to revamp the team from last years 4-9-3 record. “First, make the playoffs before the last game of the season,” stated Leslie. “Second, keep the boys working hard in school and continue to raise the teams Student Academic Eligibility,” continued Leslie.
