Among working with our Women’s Basketball team, Becker has secured four NCAA Tournament berths (1998, 2007, 2008, and 2011), two second-place CCAA regular-season finishes (1998 and 2008), and finished his career with an overall record of 251-216 (.537). Women’s basketball execution brings home win
By Erin Leach |Staff Writer| The Coyote Women's Basketball team dominated on the court this past Friday night, January 11, against CSU Stanislaus. With a 66-42 victory under their belt, the team took a heavy blow the following night when they lost Saturday to CSU Chico with a score of 62-56. "We played a complete game against Stanislaus, but needed to shoot the basketball better against Chico. Seniors move on as women’s basketball falls short of playoffs
By Shyneese Walter |Staff Writer| After finishing their season with an overall record of 9-17, a few players on the women’s basketball team have found themselves trading in their basketball gear for business attire. Seniors Angela Streets and Jessica Dela Cruz, who had great seasons, hung up their sneakers and will be picking up their heels as their collegiate basketball careers ended Feb. 24 with a loss to Humboldt State. Women’s basketball lives and dies by the zone
By Shyneese Walter |Staff Writer| The women’s basketball team is continuing to fight despite the fact that their season is quickly coming to a close. This past weekend the Lady Coyotes walked away with their third straight win as they went on to defeat the Cal State Stanislaus Warriors. The last time the Coyotes faced off against the Warriors, they managed to come away with a six point victory. Friday night would prove to be a much different story as the Coyotes absolutely dismantled the Warriors beating them by a final score of 75-42. Lady ‘Yotes need stars to shine and succeed
By Shyneese Walter |Staff Writer| In the women’s basketball team recent loss to Monterey Bay, freshmen Briana Baker and Shayna Stuart did all they could for the Lady Coyotes. Baker and Stuart both had their season highs in points as Baker contributed 11 points along with 5 rebounds, while Stuart added 10 points and 5 rebounds of her own. Coach Kevin Becker said he believed this was a tough game for his team. Briana and Shayna are both freshmen who are learning the system, but continue to make solid contributions.
