By Jordan Mitchell |Staff Writer| California State University professors take a step closer to calling a strike in the 2016 Spring quarter as a continued attempt to raise faculty earnings by five percent. The California Faculty Association (CFA) gathered on the Cal State Los Angeles campus on Jan. 19 to address their ongoing efforts and negotiations with CSU Chancellor, Timothy P. White. As of 2014, more than 50 percent of all CSU faculty members made less than $38,000 a year, according to the CFA. Emily Anne Espinosa | Staff Writer | The California Faculty Association (CFA) and California State University (CSU) management have moved toward the fact-finding process of the labor negotiation process. Fact-finding is the third part of the labor negotiation process, a process where a panel of three, one neutral and one representative from each party, review the proposals, and receive supporting documents. During this phase, representatives may reach an agreement. If not, the fact-finder releases a report. Instructors don’t get CSU support
By Taniya Harwell |Staff Writer| The California Faculty Association (CFA) has released the first document in their “Race to the Bottom” series, exposing how the Cal State University (CSU) system has failed to support its instructors. The “Race to the Bottom” series is a compilation of evidence by the CFA documenting the lack of wage increases for CSU instructors in the last 10 years. “It’s time at long last for the university to fix 10 years of problems,” said Lillian Taiz, a CSULA history professor.
