March 3, 2016 by Archived posts 159 Comments

By Erendy Torres |Staff Writer| "We buy things we don't need, with money we don't have, to impress people we don't like," is a famous quote from the movie Fight Club. We live in a generation in which we spend more money than what we make. On Feb. 13, rapper Kanye West tweeted that he is $53 million in personal debt. Studies show that “overall they earn 77 cents for each dollar made annually by men and in some professions such as financial managers the number drops to 66 cents,” according to msnbc.com. Many women have another responsibility, which is to take care of their children, compared to men. Women usually have to take care of their … [Read more...] about Women are paid unfairly

By Monica Gallegos |Staff Writer| The protests of Occupy Wall Street have inspired similar “occupations” in local areas such as Riverside, which have become known as Occupy Riverside. Occupy Riverside is a part of the leaderless resistance movement, that consists of protesters staying at Main Street Mall on Main and University Streets in Riverside. “We’re occupying our lives here, it’s not an invasion,” said protester James Williams. “We’re acting out against our government.” This occupation is a branch of Occupy Wall Street, which began Sept. 17. It’s protesting social and economic inequality in America. Their slogan is “We are the 99 percent,” referring to the difference of … [Read more...] about Occupy Wall Street Protests reach Riverside
