Ramos held a private screening of his new documentary “Hate Rising" on Oct. 16., which focused on hate groups that feel empowered by presidential candidates Donald Trump. An estimated 870,000 Mexicans came to the United States between 2009-2014, but one million returned home. In 2014, there were 11.3 million unauthorized immigrants in the U.S., according to Pew Research. “The net decline in Mexicans was driven by the great recession in the U.S. that made it harder to find jobs, and the economy is improving in Mexico,” said Mark Lopez, director of Hispanic research center. The CSUSB Alumnus has published books: “Green Web” (1994), “El Campo” (1998), “A Rush of Hands” (2003) and his soon-to-be released “Vital Signs and Lavish Weeds.” Delgado has learned to appreciate the inner beauty of life’s simplicities through his poetry. “I’m writing about the things that matter to me and the context and culture in my history. By Courtney Sims |Staff Writer| Twelve Immigrant Youth Coalition (IYC) protestors were arrested on Jan. 24, outside of City Hall in San Bernardino during a sit-in called “Undocumented and Unafraid.” Of the 12 arrested, 10 may face deportation. Protestors sat-in in front of the Department of Homeland Security’s field office and Downtown City Hall to protest the treatment of undocumented residents. “No papers, no fear. Immigrants are marching here,” chanted group members.
