Features Editor| President Barack Obama said Congress should finish the job he started by raising the minimum wage from the current federal minimum wage $7.25 to $10.10. “I make minimum wage and even $8 sucks, $7.25 would just be ridiculous. A nice raise would really help me out and I know I’m not the only one,” said student Ken Mitchell. By Carley Bennecke |Staff Writer| The Mile High Challenge is an opportunity to experience self-growth, discovery and a fun workout. It is an opportunity for members of the Student Recreation and Fitness Center (Rec Center) to accomplish the goal of climbing the height of a mile, or 5,280 feet. The climbing wall in the Rec Center is 34 feet tall. A participant would have to climb to the top 155 times to complete the challenge.The climb is very a very steep and difficult one to make. If 155 climbs sounds too challenging, the Rec Center offers to split the climbs in half with a friend. The Mile High Challenge is now available for sign-ups at the membership desk in the Rec Center. High-speed rail isn’t worth the money

The construction of this “bullet train” that will travel from Los Angeles to San Francisco is and has been under consideration for many decades. I believe that the building of this high-speed rail has too many cons that outweigh its pros that will directly affect every driver in California including you, your family and friends. San Bernardino district high school enrollment drop
By Alexis Figueroa |Staff Writer| Fewer students are walking into school each year, an issue that has been a part of the San Bernardino School District reportedly since 2004. High school students in California, especially full-time students, represent more than $6,000 in annual basic funding from the state. When enrollment falls so does state funding meaning fewer dollars, which results in program reductions, personnel cutbacks and possibly the closing of schools, according to the California School Board Association (CSBA). High winds cause campus closure
By Jacqueline Scholten |Staff Writer| Gusts of 50-plus miles per hour ripped through CSUSB forcing officials to shut down the campus Jan 27. “I was so scared driving to school this morning. A truck blew over and there were crates all over the 210 freeway,” said student Renee Etcheberria. The National Weather Service issued a high wind warning beginning at 6 a.m. Friday morning till Saturday 3 p.m. “Street signs being blown off, trees being uprooted, students falling over, cars swerving” says Ryan Larson. An email was sent out at 10 a.m. informing students that once their first class was over they would be dismissed for the day.
