There were four activities held during Japan Day, which were a Japanese Taiko drum performance, Japanese culture booths, Japanese tea time and a Kabuki lecture and demonstration. The lecturer of the Department of World Languages and Literature Makiko Amaya, said they invited a professional Taiko performer from Los Angeles and had over 100 people attend. Several students who are familiar with Samsung phones say that the Samsung Note 7 exploding was not so unexpected. “I wasn’t surprised at all, my phone get’s really hot,” said Samsung user Ashlee Burton. This accident is becoming a serious problem for Samsung, and not just a insignificant mistake of technology. “Everybody can make mistakes, but these are really big ones,” said Computer Science professor, Ernesto Gomez. Kimberlyn Cruz, restaurant server, talks about her family-owned restaurant, where all the food is cooked by her mother with a homemade style. “First it started with my family and I, then we later grew causing us to get a little bit more help with family members outside the inner group,” said Kimberlyn. Senior students on campus received plenty of useful information regarding graduation at the pre-graduation party, which was held at 9 a.m. to 4 p.m, Nov. 1. Felicia De La Isla, a staff member of the Women’s Resource Center said, “Chingona Fire will bring their “perspective of Latino women.” The main purpose of this event is to remove the stereotype of Latino women and bring confidence to the community. “There are lots of people not familiar with Latino culture are mixing everything,” said De La Isla.
