By Shane Burrell |Sports Editor| On Oct. 18, my boyfriend Peter Luu and I, made our way over to the Pomona Fairplex where Oktoberfest was held. To our amazing discovery, we found out that the Ramen Festival was held at the same time and one building over from where Oktoberfest was taking place. So we made the decision that we would stop by the Ramen Festival and have something to eat before enjoying all the beer that Oktoberfest has to offer. The Ramen Festival entry fee was $5 and only $8 per bowl of Ramen, altogether $13 for each of us. We both also got a box of Pocky, a biscuit stick like cookie dipped in chocolate. Shane Burrell |Sports Editor| Recent relations between Germany and the United States have been compromised due to allegations blaming the U.S. of espionage. With the last major case of Edward Snowden releasing NSA documents and U.S. servelillance on phone and internet communications to the public just this last year, the United States is now being accused of espionage.The allegations were revealed to the public on Thursday, July 3 by the German government. The New York Times writers Alison Smale and Melissa Eddy report that Germany has requested the expulsion of the U.S. intelligence services' representative of the United States embassy in Germany. Chevy, ready to sniff out explosives
By Kim Dailey |Staff Writer| CSUSB’s Criminal Justice Club helps support and fund Chevy, our very own explosive detection dog here on campus. The Criminal Justice Club helped raise $850 by selling chocolates and club T-shirts to buy supplies for Chevy. Chevy is an almost a 3-year-old German Shepherd that came to CSUSB last October and became a part of the campus police department with Officer Helen Skaggs as his partner. “Chevy was purchased off grants and donations, which Officer Skaggs did a lot of fundraising herself,” said president of the Criminal Justice Club, Josue Garcia. Pfau Library hosts Holocaust exhibit
By Angela E. Rodriguez |Staff Writer| CSUSB is proud to host the Museum of Tolerance’s traveling exhibit “The Courage to Remember the Holocaust” displayed in the John M. Pfau Library April 30–May 21 on the first floor. Last Monday’s opening ceremony and reception for the exhibit began at 5:30 p.m. on the fourth floor of the Pfau Library. This traveling exhibit is part of the well-known Simon Wiesenthal Center’s Museum of Tolerance located in Los Angeles. It is displayed for free and open to the public during library hours. The renowned museum is the first of its kind ever, named after famous Nazi hunter Simon Wiesenthal.
