The event will be held on campus, June 2 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on the library lawn. Los Amigos Spanish Club is a student run organization that provides students a common interest in Spanish languages and culture. "Almost everybody has one view of what Hispanics are; that is the typical Mexican with the big sombrero and the big mustache and that's not who we are," said Valerie Salazar, president of Los Amigos. She was recently named the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division II National Player of the Week for the games between Feb. 10 - 15. This award is given to the player with the highest batting average of the week. She received the award for having a staggering batting average of .721 going (16-22) over that week. By Diana Ramos |Staff Writer| February is National Condom Month. The Student Health Center hosted their first event called Keeping It Sexually Safe (K.I.S.S) on Wednesday Feb. 12. This event educated students on contraceptives and sexually transmitted infections (STI). Jeanette Montoya said, “If you’re not sexually active you can still participate, because this event is not meant to pressure you into having sex.” The event was to inform students, so when they decide they are ready, they will know how to take care of themselves. To commemorate the holiday, the city held the 97th annual National Orange Show Festival. The NOS Festival consisted of “music, food, world-class carnival and midway, indoor and outdoor shopping, petting zoo, pig races, circus and animal acts, hypnotists, clowns and juried art show,” as stated by advertisements. This year there was a new twist to the festival, which integrated a diversity theme to show the different cultures in our county. Water polo falls short despite valiant effort
By Ray Beasley |Staff Writer| Despite an incredible comeback attempt during the final three quarters of the game, water polo lost their weekend match up on April 7 against Fresno Pacific, 13–15. The Coyotes were trailing Fresno Pacific 1–6 after the first quarter but outscored their opponents 12–9 over the final half of the game. Despite the amazing effort the Coyotes made during the last half of the game, Fresno Pacific handed the Coyotes their 26th loss of the season.
