The investigative report named and accused several current and former CSU administrators statewide in allegations of lavish spending with donated funds. “I can’t speak for what is happening on other CSU campuses,” said Ron Fremont, vice president of CSUSB’s University Advancement. “This university is incredibly conservative in its practices and uses for all funds, including non-state funds,” added Fremont. Every two weeks the company features a new cause. Their most recent cause is for Autism Speaks. These recent Autism Speaks fundraising efforts in honor of a modern day hero, Rachel D’Avino, who died when she attempted to protect her special education students at Sandy Hook. Fundraising at CSUSB with new leadership from Morales
By Maria Aguilar|Staff Writer| A $8.5 million fundraising goal will play an important role this year at CSUSB, due to the possibility of more budget cuts if Proposition 30 is not passed. “Every year, the university strives to generate as much external revenue as possible. Our goal this year is based on a formula with the Chancellor’s office,” said Ron Fremont, the new vice president of University Advancement. The CSU had a $750 million budget cut this year, which led to an increase in tuition, according to the CSU website. Propostion 30 can possibly be a solution to prevent any further budget cuts. Kappa Delta host run to benefit children
By Katherine Valadez |Staff Writer| Child abuse victims across America will benefit from over $12,000 raised right here at CSUSB, if a few Coyotes have their way. The Kappa Delta Sorority will hold a 5K run at CSUSB March 10 to raise money for the charities Prevent Child Abuse America and ChildHelp. Last year $12,000 was raised and the sorority plans to raise more money for this year. The funds will go to prevent child abuse and help victims of abuse. The Shamrock 5K Run/Walk 2012 is the last event held during "Shamrock Week," which includes a basketball tournament in the Recreational Center. With tuition increasing every year students are constantly looking for alternatives to their tuition and fees. What better way to pay for college than a scholarship that you don’t have to pay back? College of Ed gets new face
By Lindsey Martinovich Staff Writer CSUSB has appointed a new director of development for the College of Education. “I’ve always been passionate about education,” said Richonette “Ricki” McManuis, CSUSB’s new director of development for the College of Education. McManuis gladly accepted the job opportunity at CSUSB after spending 10 years at Altera Credit Union as the Senior Vice President of corporate communications. At Altera, she oversaw the marketing and business department and was responsible for public relations, doing such things as press releases.
