Fashionable ‘Yote on the loose!

March 3, 2016 by Archived posts Leave a Comment

By Cassie Coughlin |Staff Writer| College is not only the time you pick your future career, but it's also the time you develop your personal fashion style. Fashion holds a different meaning to every person, but for many it is all about expressing one's own personality instead of focusing on the latest trends. "My fashion style is definitely a risk taker," said student McKenzie Gutierrez. "I can go from wearing all black with my checkered vans one day, to wearing a sun dress and my cowgirl boots, it just kind of depends on how I am feeling that day," added Gutierrez. As Gutierrez described, her style is risky in the sense that she does not worry about trends but picks … [Read more...] about Fashionable ‘Yote on the loose!

Fall Fashion Trends at CSUSB

October 18, 2015 by Archived posts Leave a Comment

By Whitney Alvarez | Staff Writer | Hello trendy pack! Fall is officially among us and you know what that means, time for pumpkin spice flavored everything, an excuse to wear dark colors and the trendiest pieces you've been dying to wear all year long. Although summer (and the hot temperatures that come along with it), hasn't come to terms with the fact that its time is up, the cooler weather is definitely sneaking its way in. This season is all about coats, cardigans, booties, flannels, joggers, head pieces, dark lips and so much more! Sometimes being fashionable costs too much, but it doesn't always have to be a pain. Students around campus are showing us that style isn't always … [Read more...] about Fall Fashion Trends at CSUSB

Self worth as defined by retail stores

February 15, 2014 by Archived posts Leave a Comment

By Erin Posjena |Staff Writer| Women across the country have become obsessed with the size numbers printed on each tag of clothing they try on and how those numbers have begun to equal body worth and self value. The reality is that those size numbers are different everywhere, so what consumers really should be asking themselves is, “does size really matter?" Who is determining that value-- some clothing manufacturer, or you? Retail stores like Hollister, American Eagle, and Forever 21 all produce clothing that is targeted for high school and college-aged girls. Society today tells girls that thin is in, therefore, it’s only natural that the size numbers on each dress or … [Read more...] about Self worth as defined by retail stores

Fall Fashion Dont’s for Girls

November 13, 2013 by Archived posts Leave a Comment

By Shelby Gonzales |Staff Writer| Although the sun is still shining and hotter than normal days for this time of year, summer attire needs to be put to rest. Fall fashion is underway and there are some styles that need to be put back in the closet. It is time to put away your floral print patterns and midriff baring looks and break out the scarves and boots. Ladies, we all love summer for being able to wear short tops that displayed our killer abs we worked so hard for during the summer, but the midriff look is a huge fashion risk during fall. If you must wear these stomach baring tops, I suggest pairing it with high wasted jeans to not cross the line from fall to summer … [Read more...] about Fall Fashion Dont’s for Girls

Get the celebrity look on a student budget

May 10, 2013 by Archived posts Leave a Comment

By Danielle Workman |Staff Writer| As college students, it is safe to say we are on a tight budget. Between loans, insurance, rent and everyday living, it is difficult to financially stay up-to-date with the fashion world. Patterns, re-purposed materials and high-waisted shorts are all strutting on the catwalk this season. Students around campus share their favorite designers, artists and top stores to visit for fresh off the runway looks on a college budget. “I love Windsor! They have a variety of different styles. I can be punk-rock one day with studs and graphics, and be girly the next day with frills and flowers. As a consumer I am always able to switch it up and stay … [Read more...] about Get the celebrity look on a student budget
