By Ofelia Fuente |Asst. A&E Editor|New York native Martinez shows off how the plastic life covers up the truth and reality alongside the writing team Kinetics & One Love releasing her first lead single of her up and coming album to be dropped in 2014. “Throw on your dress and put on your doll faces, everyone thinks that we’re perfect.

By Abigail Tejada |A&E Editor| Latin-Afro-Folk band, The Melodic kicked off their tour at the Santa Ana Constellation Room Nov. 7, just a few days after releasing their album Effa Parade. With Huw Williams on vocals and guitar , Rudi Schmidt on the Charango and melodica, John Naldrett on bass, Lydia Samuelson melodica and vocals, and James McCandless on drums, they create beautiful symphonies. They were kind enough to invite me to their show and allow me to interview them before going on stage. The band is very much influenced by Southern American music as Rudi had spent three months in South America touring with a traditional folk orchestra from Bolivia. They consider themselves to … [Read more...] about The Melodic leaves audience wanting more

By Brian Chidueme |Staff Writer| Swedish teenage sisters Johanna and Klara Soderberg are here to prove that folk music still carries relevance in music culture today with their new album The Lion’s Roar. Hailing from Rabid Records, under the name First Aid Kit, Johanna and Kiara have been creating a stir around the ‘net since 2008 with their first EP, Drunken Trees. They have been gaining recognition ever since their debut, especially in time for their 2010 release of The Big Black & The Blue. From then on, critics have been able to note shades of Bob Dylan and the Fleet Foxes in their work. With The Lion’s Roar’s 10 tracks show that the Indie-folk duo’s signature sound of … [Read more...] about Swedish sisters have fans roaring for First Aid Kit

April 19, 2011 by Archived posts 45 Comments

Jhonise Hamilton |Staff Writer| Those of you looking for some loud music to bang your heads to, might want to go out and purchase the new Foo Fighters album Wasting Light. At the time when I listened to this album, I was familiar with the group but not with the music … [Read more...] about Coyote Review: Wasting Light
