Coyote Radio en Español is a special program of Coyote Radio, directed by Dr. Gallegos-Ruiz and Lacey Kendall. Exploring different perspectives
By Seungkyung Baek |Staff Writer| Most international students go through culture shock because of the different languages and customs. Students notice an environmental difference between their home countries and America. “I was shocked because some American students refer to their professors by their name, whereas Korean students do not,” said student from South Korea Sungwon Pae. Certain students felt that there is a clear difference between the speed in lifestyle in their home country compared to America. “Koreans are in a rush all the time, but in Cali people have a laid-back attitude to life. American students communicate even with strangers, and participate more in class … [Read more...] about Exploring different perspectives
PR Comm course like no other
By Israel Ramirez |Staff Writer| Communication is something we utilize every day. To me, it is the most important skill we should learn to master. After three years at CSUSB, I have taken many courses, but none like COMM 243A COMM 243A is a communication course that fulfills one of the major’s requirements. The course allows students to work with the school’s newspaper, the Coyote Chronicle. I found myself at CSUSB: Foreign student takes us through her journey
By Yerin Kim |Staff Writer| One short-haired, Korean student standing alone before the library, while holding a campus map, seemed lost. One year later, she goes to the Santos Manuel Student Union (SMSU) where her friends are and they welcome her with smiles. Every Friday, she shares her culture through the Korean Culture Club as president. Now, she is writing about her stay in America, looking back upon her life. This is the story of how I changed during … [Read more...] about I found myself at CSUSB: Foreign student takes us through her journey
Homework, school, WinCo
By Jessica Arciniega | Staff Writer | There is an estimated 80 percent of students who work while attending college, according to thinkprogress.org. But how many students can say they are required to travel for work while being enrolled in school? Adding travel into the mix makes things a lot more challenging. Here is my story: Balancing work, traveling, and school has brought much stress and sleepless nights, but I wouldn’t change it for the world because of the experience and learning lessons it has brought me. Let me start by explaining what my job is and what it requires. I work for WinCo Foods and travel for two week periods visiting stores in Arizona and Texas. My … [Read more...] about Homework, school, WinCo
International student reflects on his time at CSUSB
By Jounghun Kim |Staff Writer| I came to CSUSB from Seoul, South Korea. on Jan. 8, 2012. It was my first day in the United States and I have been attending classes here as an international student for about a year. While I have been living here, I experienced that the U.S. has so many more different cultures than Korea. I can point out several other things that are different. First, I must throw away my trash all at once in America. In Korea, we have to separate the garbage, cans, bottles, papers etc. into separate bins. However, the most wonderful thing that I miss is the food crusher. It is so convenient to use. Here you have the “to go box.” In Korea, people usually do not … [Read more...] about International student reflects on his time at CSUSB
