President Barack Obama along with Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers motioned for Congress to discuss issues that matter to women. The president’s agenda seeks to close the gender wage gap. I agree with President Obama when he stated in his weekly address, “That’s wrong. In 2014, it’s an embarrassment. By. Art Ortega |Staff Writer| Students had the opportunity to network with big shot employers last week during the Career Fair held in the Student Union. Over 50 employers were present at the career fair: Target, Sherwin Williams, Department of Environmental Health, FIDM, U.S. Foods and Bridgestone just to name a few. “I was mostly interested in AT&T,” said student Lindsay Colombo. “They seemed to have a better opportunity for employment and the recruiters were friendlier than the others.” Student Richard Castrejon also found an interest in AT&T since they were looking to hire about 50 people. By Angela Rodriguez IStaff Writer| CSUSB’s Career Development Center (CDC) held the Social and Behavioral Sciences Career/Graduate Fair on Jan. 30 in the Santos Manuel Student Union (SMSU) from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The career fair was designed to introduce students to professionals in the working world and expose them to different types of jobs they can acquire with a degree in social and behavioral sciences. “I didn’t even know this event was going on today but there’s a lot of employers here. Social Media Act a hit with privacy advocates
By Shanieka Perrier |Staff Writer| I think the Social Media Privacy Act is great because it will protect employees and students from being terminated from work or school as a result of their Facebook activities. On May 2, 2012, the California Assembly Committee of Labor and Employment unanimously passed Assembly Bill 1844. The bill prohibits employers from requesting personal social media user names and passwords from employees, according to the Daily 49er. The Social Media Privacy Act was also approved a week before by the California Senate Labor and Industrial Relations Committee.
